The friendship between India and America will soon be back on track. There are indications that the ongoing talks between the two countries regarding the trade agreement are in a very positive phase. In such a situation, steps are likely to be taken soon to reduce the 50 percent tariff imposed by the US on India. These things were indicated by India's PM Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
This is the second time in a week that the heads of governments of the two countries took a big step towards improving relations through positive messages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump praised each other on social media and expressed commitment to strengthen the bilateral partnership. If all goes well, the situation will also become clear regarding the Quad summit in India. President Trump is likely to come to India for this.
India and America are close friends.
Prime Minister Modi wrote on 'X', 'India and America are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade talks will open up unlimited possibilities for the India-US partnership. Our teams are working to finalize these discussions as soon as possible. Together we will ensure a brighter and more prosperous future for our people.' He further said that he hopes to meet President Trump soon.
Looking forward to talking to PM Modi: Trump
Earlier, President Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, 'I am happy to announce that talks are going on to remove trade barriers between India and the US. I look forward to talking to my good friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon. I am sure that there will be no problem in successfully completing the trade talks between the two great countries.
This positive dialogue has come at a time when the tension between the two countries reached its peak over the US's 50 percent tariff on India and oil purchase from Russia. Trump had earlier claimed that he had lost India and Russia to China. After which, these statements created a stir in diplomatic circles. Apart from this, Trump's business advisor, Peter Navarro, was also continuously making statements against India.
India did not react much to these objectionable statements. The reason is that the officials conducting the trade talks were confident that the Trump administration was making all these statements to put pressure on India. Reliable sources say that big announcements can be made in the next two weeks. Under this, first, the additional duty of 25 percent imposed on India for buying oil from Russia should be abolished. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal recently expressed confidence that both countries can sign a trade agreement by November.
