The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi has announced to provide 300 units of electricity free to all domestic consumers and waive off outstanding electricity bills of 38 lakh families if the government is formed in the state after the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said at a press conference in Lucknow on Thursday that the Aam Aadmi Party government will provide free electricity up to 300 units to all domestic consumers in the state if voted to power in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, the government will provide free electricity to the farmers of all types of holdings, small and big.
Manish Sisodia also announced that if the Aam Aadmi Party government is formed, the bills of 38 lakh families of the state troubled by arbitrary electricity bills will be waived off and 24 hours electricity will be supplied in the state. He alleged that in Uttar Pradesh, the government has made electricity so expensive that it is becoming very difficult to pay the electricity bill.
He claimed that there are hundreds of cases in Uttar Pradesh where the common man has committed suicide after seeing expensive electricity bills. In Aligarh, a farmer named Ramji Lal committed suicide due to the non-payment of electricity bills. A 17-year-old girl committed suicide in Etah just because the electricity department had sent a wrong bill to her father, who was declared a criminal for not paying it.
Manish Sisodia said that there are 38 lakh families in the whole of Uttar Pradesh in whose homes the government has sent expensive electricity bills and the government is considering them as criminals. I want to tell those people that you should support the Aam Aadmi Party and form our government in the assembly elections. As soon as the government is formed, those bills will be torn and thrown away. All outstanding bills will be waived. This is Arvind Kejriwal's guarantee.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi said that today electricity is not a luxury but a basic necessity, which is the responsibility of every government to make it available to every citizen. Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha member and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay Singh said on the occasion that Kejriwal shows by doing what he says. Whatever announcements have been made, including providing 300 units of free electricity, are historic. When asked about the Aam Aadmi Party's chief ministerial candidate, Sisodia said that when the time comes, the party will decide on it. He said that the party is fighting the elections under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal.
