The Textiles Ministry approved 23 strategic research projects worth about Rs 60 crore in the areas of Specialty Fibers, Sustainable Textiles, Geotextiles, Mobiltech, and Sports Textiles. These strategic research projects come under the flagship program 'National Technical Textiles Mission'.
Out of these 23 research projects, 12 projects on specialty fibers in agriculture, smart textiles, healthcare, strategic applications, and protective gears, and four in sustainable textiles with application areas in the agriculture and healthcare sectors have been approved. Along with this, five projects from Geotextile and one each from Mobiltech and Sportec have been approved.

Meanwhile, the commerce ministry has approved the creation of bills, payments, and settlement of import-export deals in Indian rupees to promote international trade in the domestic currency. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in July had asked banks to make additional arrangements to conclude export and import transactions in rupees. Because of the increasing interest of the global business community in the Indian currency, RBI had proposed to introduce this facility.
Center gave these instructions to all its departments
The Center has asked all its departments to compulsorily self-disclose public information 'audited' by third parties. According to the Personnel Ministry, all government departments have been ordered to make available to the public most of the information related to their functions, responsibilities, and records available with them. The order states that every ministry and public authority should proactively get those documents audited and disclosed every year by a third party.
