Ludhiana, Feb 10 (IANS) The AAP's victory in the Delhi assembly polls will not impact politics in Punjab in any way, but "people's mandate is supreme and must be respected in a democratic set-up", Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said Tuesday.
"AAP's victory is confined to only to the national capital and these political developments will not have impending repercussions on Punjab politics," Badal told reporters in this industrial city, 110 km from Chandigarh.
The Aam Aadmi Party, which had contested many seats in the Lok Sabha polls, was wiped out in many states including Delhi, but had managed to win four Lok Sabha seats in Punjab.
However, Badal said the Shiromani Akali Dal would introspect all factors responsible for the Delhi assembly results.
The Akali Dal and the BJP, who have been running an alliance government in Punjab since 2007, had contested the Delhi assembly polls together.
"Despite the fact that the AAP managed to form the government in Delhi in 2013 as well, everyone knows well what happened later. The AAP had also earlier contested the 2014 general elections across the country," Badal said.
