After the second round of voting in Assam, the Election Commission has suspended 4 officials after being accused of carrying EVMs in a car belonging to a BJP leader. One of these 4 officers is also a Presiding Officer. In fact, after the vote on Thursday, there was a charge of getting an EVM machine in a car belonging to a BJP candidate in the Karimganj district, and violence spread. Not only this, but Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi had also made several tweets, demanding the Election Commission to take decisive action in this matter. However, according to media reports, the polling agents took a lift from the car belonging to the BJP leader due to the Election Commission's car malfunction.

 

The Election Commission has said that all the EVMs have been found completely safe in the investigation. His seal is not broken. The Commission reported that BU, CU, and VVPAT, including EVMs, were safely stored in the Strong Room. A lift was taken on a sudden car breakdown, a dispute broke out

 

According to media reports, the car broke down when the polling team was carrying EVMs after voting on the Ratabari assembly seat in Karimganj district. The polling team was heading to the Strong Room. After the car was damaged, the team demanded another car from the Election Commission. Polling officers were asked to arrange for another car, but by then they had taken a lift from a car belonging to the BJP leader.

 

The car was attacked by a crowd of more than 50 people

 

The whole affair came to light on Thursday night when a stone-pelting was reported from a crowd of more than 50 people when an EVM was found in a car. The glass of the car broke in the attack. The car was linked to BJP candidate Krishnendu Paul from the Patharkandi assembly seat in Karimganj district. However, till now there has been no statement from the BJP leader in this regard.
