The post-mortem examination of the body of Haryana ADGP Y. Puran Kumar has begun. Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur Kumar's wife, IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, accompanied him to the PGI from his Sector 24 residence.
Assurance of a Fair Investigation
Amneet P. Kumar stated that she has consented to a post-mortem examination of her husband's body in light of the assurances of a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation by the UT Police and the Haryana Government's commitment to take legal action against the accused officials.
Considering the evidentiary value of a timely post-mortem and the larger interest of justice, she has agreed to have it conducted as per the prescribed procedure, by a constituted board of doctors, in the presence of a ballistics expert, under the supervision of a magistrate, and with the entire process videographed to ensure complete transparency.
She stated, "I have full faith in the judiciary and police officials, and I sincerely hope that the investigation will be conducted in a professional, impartial, and timely manner, so that the truth is revealed as per the law. I will continue to extend my full support to the investigating team to expedite the process and ensure speedy justice." In view of the ongoing investigation, no further public statements will be issued at this time, and I request the media to respect the sensitivity of the matter.
