Indian cricket team star batsman Virat Kohli shared a surprising post on social media ahead of the ODI series against Australia, which has created a stir among fans.

 

King Kohli last played for India in the Champions Trophy final in March 2025. He is set to return to international cricket during the Australia tour. He has already retired from Test and T20 formats. He is now expected to play in the first ODI against Australia, starting October 19.

Virat Kohli Shares Surprising Post Before Perth Test

His post comes at a time when discussions are rife about his participation in the 2027 ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) mentor Dinesh Karthik has revealed that Kohli is fully committed to playing in the 2027 World Cup and has begun training regularly during his recent stay in London.

 

Dinesh Karthik said in a social media video that he is extremely excited to play in the 2027 World Cup. Even during his long break in London, he practiced cricket for 2-3 sessions every week. He is seriously preparing for this goal.

 

Kohli's ODI Career

If we look at Kohli's ODI career, he is India's second-highest run-scorer. He has scored 14,181 runs in 290 innings across 302 matches, with an average of 57.88 and a strike rate of 93+. This includes 51 centuries and 74 half-centuries. His highest score is 183. In 7 ODIs played in 2025, he has scored 275 runs, including a century and two half-centuries, with a best score of 100 not out.

 

His last international performance came in the ICC Champions Trophy in March 2025, where he scored 218 runs in 5 matches, including a brilliant century against Pakistan and a brilliant innings of 84 against Australia in the semi-finals.

 

Kohli's record in Australian conditions has also been excellent. He has scored 1,327 runs in 29 ODIs, with an average of 51.03 and a strike rate of 89+. This includes 5 centuries and 6 half-centuries, with a best score of 133 not out.
