Even after recovery from corona, patients remain at risk of various mental disorders and diseases like dementia for at least 2 years. This claim has been made in recent research by Oxford University. covid-19 is still a pandemic around the world. In the last 24 hours, 8,586 cases of corona and 48 deaths were recorded in India.

The research was done on 12.5 lakh people

About 12.5 lakh corona patients were included in this research. Along with this, the ability of the virus to affect the central nervous system of the patients was also tested. The research also took into account the global burden of dementia. It had reached $1.3 trillion in the initial year of the pandemic, ie 2020.

Corona's dangerous effect on the brain

According to scientists, if the brain shrinks even in a mild case of the corona, then it is equal to getting old in a decade. Along with this, cases of anxiety and depression are seen more in the survivors till two months after recovery. According to a study published in the Lancet Psychiatry journal, long-term disorders such as brain fog, epilepsy, and seizures may persist for the next two years.

A long covid serious problem for adults

According to research, the problems of long covid, such as mood changes and anxiety disorders, have become a bigger problem for adults than for children. The study's co-author Max Taquet says, "It is good news that the risk of mental disorders after corona is not long-term and there is no risk in children."

Although disorders such as seizures and epilepsy can be seen in people for up to 2 years, which is a matter of concern. Researchers say that these problems can damage the cells that take care of blood vessels. This increases the risk of blood clots, which can turn into a fatal problem.
