Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has once again raised questions about the Maharashtra Assembly elections in November 2024. Accusing the BJP, he said that the BJP rigged the elections like match fixing.
Sharing the article published in Dainik Jagran, Rahul Gandhi has mentioned five reasons to influence the elections. He posted on X and wrote, how to steal the election? The Maharashtra Assembly elections in 2024 were a blueprint to rig democracy.
Rahul Gandhi wrote, "My article shows how it happened." Sharing five steps with his article, he wrote...
First step - Rigging the panel for appointment of Election Commission
Second step - Adding fake voters to the voter list
Third step - Increasing the voting percentage
Fourth step - Target fake voting exactly where BJP has to win
Fifth step - Hiding evidence
Raised questions on Maharashtra elections
Rahul Gandhi targeted BJP over Maharashtra assembly elections and said, "It is not difficult to see why BJP was so desperate in Maharashtra? But this rigging is like match fixing - the side that cheats may win the match, but damages the institutions."
He said that such results destroy public trust. All concerned Indians should see the evidence and decide for themselves, demand answers. Because the match fixing of Maharashtra will happen next time in Bihar and then there where BJP will be losing.
Rahul Gandhi's allegations against the Election Commission
Earlier in the month of April, Rahul Gandhi had said during an event in Boston, USA that the Election Commission is no longer impartial, it has compromised. Citing the voting figures of Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, he alleged that it is physically impossible for lakhs of votes to be cast in the last two hours.
Rahul claimed, "By 5.30 pm, the Election Commission gave a figure, and then from 5.30 to 7.30 pm, 65 lakh more votes were cast. If it takes about three minutes for a voter to vote, then so many votes cannot be cast in such a short time. This can only mean that there were queues till midnight, which is not true."
BJP's counterattack
The BJP has termed Rahul Gandhi's claims as insulting. BJP leader Tuhin Sinha said, "Rahul Gandhi is back to his shameful antics of defaming the institutions of the country. These issues have been addressed in detail by the Election Commission time and again." What was the result of Maharashtra assembly elections
The assembly elections in Maharashtra were won by the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance. The main contest in the state was between Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi. Mahayuti won 230 out of 288 assembly seats.
Out of 230, the BJP alone got 132 seats. Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena got 57 seats and Ajit Pawar faction's NCP got 41 seats. The Maha Vikas Aghadi party got only 46 seats.
