As the investigation into the alleged cases of religious conversion and abuse harassment at the TCS facility in Nashik progresses, new revelations are emerging. The inquiry has revealed that the male accused operated like an organized gang to target women.
The police have registered nine cases in connection with these allegations. Seven men and one woman have been arrested, while one female accused remains at large.
‘Such things happen.’
Elaborating on the roles of the two female accused, Nashik Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik stated on Wednesday that the unit’s Operations and HR Head allegedly attempted to dissuade a victim from filing a complaint. She reportedly told the victims, “Such things happen,” thereby siding with the accused.
Operations Manager Sent to Judicial Custody Until April 28
In a related development, a Nashik court on Wednesday remanded the female Operations Manager to judicial custody until April 28. Responding to speculative reports suggesting that the accused might be linked to an extremist organization or receiving foreign funding, the Police Commissioner stated that a thorough investigation into the matter is underway, and the police have written to the SID, ATS, and NIA.
Complaint Filed by a Male Employee as Well
He further added, “We will be able to reach a conclusion regarding this only once we obtain concrete evidence.” He noted that among the nine cases registered by the police, one complaint was filed by a male employee of the company, who alleged that attempts were made to convert him at the workplace and that he was subjected to religious harassment.
Earlier this week, the police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe complaints filed by eight female employees. These women had alleged that their senior colleagues subjected them to mental and harassment, while the HR department ignored their complaints.
8 TCS Employees Arrested
The police have arrested eight employees of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), including seven men and one female Operations Manager. The arrested male accused have been identified as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and Shahrukh Sheikh.
Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran described the harassment as deeply concerning and distressing, and announced that a thorough investigation—under the supervision of TCS Chief Operating Officer Aarthi Subramanian—is underway to ascertain the facts and identify those responsible for the situation.
