The central government has asked two states of the country - Kerala, and Maharashtra to consider imposing a night curfew. For the last two days, more than 40 thousand new cases of corona are being reported in the country. Most of these cases are from Kerala and Maharashtra. Because of the increasing cases of corona in Kerala and Maharashtra, the government has been asked to consider imposing a night curfew. In the middle of this month, corona cases in the country went to a five-month low of 25,156, but it has increased again in the last three days. Most of the cases in the country have come to the fore in Kerala, where a big festival was celebrated in the past.

Kerala, located in the southern tip of India, has reported about 60 percent of the new cases across the country in the last one week and more than half of the total active cases have come from here. After this comes the western state of Maharashtra. Where 16 percent of new cases have been reported across the country. The central government is concerned about the rapidly increasing new cases of corona in Kerala and Maharashtra.

Regarding this, the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement that more efforts will be required from these states to stop the increase in infection. This was said in a meeting of the Secretaries of the Ministry of Home Affairs with Kerala and Maharashtra on Thursday evening. The statement further said that this would require substantial interventions in high infection areas through measures such as contact tracing, vaccination campaigns, and COVID-appropriate behavior. The ministry also said that the states have been asked to consider imposing night curfew in areas with high infection. The government also assured additional supply of corona vaccine to both the states.
