Defense Minister Rajnath Singh himself has come forward on the questions raised regarding the demand for caste certificates under the Agneepath scheme. He has termed these questions as mere rumours. Rajnath Singh said, there has been no change in the process of military recruitment. The old process has been continued. This process is going on before independence, he said.
Politics had started when caste and religion certificates were sought for the Agneepath scheme. BJP MP Varun Gandhi, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, and JDU leader Upendra Kushwaha have raised questions about the demand for caste certificates in military recruitment.
Army also issued a statement
The army has also clarified the demand for caste and religion certificates in military recruitment. Military officials say that there has been no change in the military recruitment process under the Agneepath scheme. Caste and religion certificate has been sought in the past as well. When asked for a religion certificate in military recruitment, an army officer said that it is necessary to know religion to perform the last rites of soldiers who died during training and deployment. With this, his last rites are performed according to the same religion.
BJP surrounded the opposition
On the other hand, after the question was raised on the plan, the BJP surrounded the opposition. National spokesperson Sambit Patra said, "Controversy is being created deliberately over the Agneepath scheme. There is no change in the recruitment process. Recruitment is not done based on caste in the army, however, a certificate is sought as a record. He said the opposition is trying to divide the youth based on caste.
It is not fair to defame the army
The BJP spokesperson said, in 2013, a PIL was filed in the Supreme Court. In response, the army said that it was just a process. At that time there was a UPA government. Even after this, these people want to bring the army into the arena, they want to defame it. He said, deliberate confusion is being created in this matter, which may lead to arson on the road. Arvind Kejriwal is the man who also questioned the surgical strike.
BJP leaders raised questions
BJP MP Varun Gandhi has also raised questions on the demand for caste certificates in military recruitment. He said, there is no reservation of any kind in the army, but a caste certificate is being sought in the recruitment of Agneepath. Will we now decide someone's patriotism by looking at their caste? The government should think about the impact on our national security by changing the established traditions of the army. Earlier, AAP MP Sanjay Singh and JDU leader Upendra Kushwaha have also raised questions on this.
