In the match played at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, West Indies defeated Afghanistan by 104 runs to top the points table of Group C. Now they have eight points in their account. Apart from this, their net run rate has become +3.257. At the same time, Afghanistan has reached the second position with six points and a net run rate of +1.835.

In this match, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Windies team performed strongly and scored the highest score of the current tournament. Thanks to Nicholas Pooran's strong innings of 98 runs, West Indies scored 218 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Interestingly, this is West Indies' second-highest score in T20 international cricket against Afghanistan. Earlier, Ireland had scored 225/7 against Afghanistan in 2013. Afghanistan's team, which came out to chase the target, was all out for 114 runs in 16.2 overs. With this, West Indies won this match by 104 runs. Afghanistan suffered its first defeat in this tournament.

Afghanistan, which came out to chase the huge target of 219 runs, was given the first blow by Aqeel Hussain. He got Rahmanullah Gurbaz caught by Russell on the very first ball. He returned to the pavilion without opening his account. After this, Gudakesh Moti dismissed Ibrahim Gulbadin Naib. He too could score only seven runs. The team got the third blow in the form of Ibrahim Zadran. He was made a victim by Obed McCoy. He could score 38 runs in 28 balls. At the same time, Najibullah Zadran returned to the pavilion after scoring zero and Mohammad Nabi returned after scoring one run. In this match, Mohammad Nabi scored one, Karim Janat scored 14, Noor Ahmed scored two, Naveen-ul-Haq scored four and Rashid Khan scored four runs. At the same time, Fazalhaq Farooqui remained unbeaten without opening the account. For West Indies, Obed McCoy took three wickets while Akeel Hussain and Gudakesh Moti took two wickets each. Rovman Powell came out to bat at number five. He shared a blazing 64-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Nicholas Pooran. Powell returned with 26 runs in this match. After this came the storm of Pooran. He played an explosive innings of 98 runs in 53 balls. At the same time, Russell and Rutherford remained unbeaten by scoring three and one runs respectively. Gulbadin took two wickets for Afghanistan. At the same time, Azmatullah Umarzai and Naveen-ul-Haq got one success each.
