Agniveer Recruitment: The youth of Purnea district in Bihar are preparing for recruitment as 'Agniveer' in the rally to be held in Katihar later this month under the 'Agneepath' scheme. There were initially violent protests in several states against the Agniveer scheme. It was introduced by the central government in June this year. Hundreds of youths, including a large number of girls, will be seen performing physical exercises since early morning for the recruitment rally of Agniveers to be held on November 23 at Rangbhoomi Maidan and Indira Gandhi Stadium in Purnia. Some private organizations are also providing training to improve their fitness, to clear the physical test.
Girls preparing themselves as Agniveer
The youth are participating in various competitions including running, long jump, high jump, balance beam, and shot put to perfect their physical fitness. Neetu and Mona, two girls preparing themselves for their recruitment as Agniveer, said, "We want to become Agniveer and serve the country by teaching a lesson to the enemy." After that, we will get the opportunity to serve the country. If we die (as Agniveer) we will get martyr status and we will die for the country.
The government gave opportunities to the youth
Praveen Kumar, a young man preparing for the recruitment, said that the Center has allowed the youth by starting the Agneepath scheme. Earlier the youth did not understand but now they are realizing that this scheme is a big opportunity for them. He said that after becoming Agniveer, he can serve the country for four years and after that, there will be scope in other fields as well. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for starting the Agneepath scheme.
Vikram Singh, a coach, said that under the Agneepath scheme, around 200 youths, including 200 young men and women, are taking training from him to become Agniveer. He said that exemplary enthusiasm has been seen in him to serve the country by becoming Agniveer. The 'Agneepath' scheme was launched by the central government in June this year, under which 'Agnivars' are to be recruited for four years to serve in all three services of the armed forces. Initially, protests started in different parts of the country soon after the scheme was launched. Protests turned violent in some places in support of the demand to withdraw the scheme. Trains were set on fire.
