PM Modi: On World Environment Day, PM Modi started the tree plantation campaign, took a pledge to plant lakhs of trees

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a tree plantation campaign in Buddha Jayanti Park. Under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, lakhs of trees will be planted across the country. During this, Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav and Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena were also present with PM Modi.

 

Let us tell you that World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5. Environment means the entire natural environment in which we live. It includes all the living and non-living elements around us, such as air, water, soil, plants, animals, and other organisms. The components of the environment interact with each other to form a holistic ecosystem.

Why is World Environment Day celebrated only on June 5?

The foundation of celebrating Environment Day was laid in 1972 when the United Nations celebrated the first Environment Day and announced to celebrate this day every year. The first environmental conference was celebrated on June 5, 1972, in which 119 countries participated. The conference was held in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The United Nations General Assembly designated 5 June as Environment Day, marking the first day of the Stockholm Conference on Human Environment.

 

Importance of Environment Day

 

Pollution is spreading rapidly across the world. Nature is in danger due to increasing pollution. Nature provides everything necessary for living beings. In such a situation, if nature is affected, life will be affected. Environment Day was started to save nature from pollution. On this day, people are made aware of the environment and are inspired to save nature from pollution.
