The fees for MA courses conducted at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Rural Development Institute located in Paliwal Park campus of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra have been reduced. Students will have to pay Rs 10,000 less fee per semester than before. Fees have been fixed at Rs 7.5 thousand per semester, which was earlier Rs 17.5 thousand.
The institute offers MA Public Administration, MA Disaster Management, and MA Rural Development courses. According to the Director-in-Charge of the Institute, Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, the seats were not being filled even after having an employable course. The fees were very high. Students were facing difficulty in paying the fees of Rs 35,000 in a year. All three courses were started in the year 2019. There were 35-35 seats in each course, and in a single session, not more than five students took admission in any course.
seats were left vacant
According to Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, more than 90 applications were received every year for admission to MA courses. Due to the high fees in university institutes as compared to colleges, students were not taking admission, seats were remaining vacant.
He said that former Vice-Chancellor Professor Ashok Mittal proposed to reduce the fees. They had formed a three-member committee, no decision was taken on the matter. This time a proposal was made to reduce the fees of the courses in the Academic Council. After getting the approval, it was given to the Finance Committee, and from there also the approval was given.
10-10 seats increased in courses
The Director-in-Charge of the Institute informed that 10 seats each in MA Public Administration, MA Disaster Management, and MA Village Development courses have also been increased in the current session. Now there are 45-45 seats in the courses. The new course MA Pedagogy is being started in the current session. In this also 45 seats have been fixed, the fee is only 7.5 thousand rupees. He says that the benefit of reduced fees will be available. Enrollment of students in the courses will increase. All courses are employable.
