To do the box breathing exercise, sit or lie down in a quiet place and take deep breaths through your nose for a count of four. Then hold your breath for another count of four. After this, exhale slowly for four seconds and then pause for a count of four before starting the process again. Doing this helps increase oxygen intake, reduces anxiety and stress, and increases lung function.
pursed lips breathing
To do this exercise, purse your lips and inhale slowly through your nose. Then, exhale slowly through your mouth. Make sure to purse your lips as if you are about to whistle.
Diaphragmatic breathing or deep breathing
To perform diaphragmatic breathing exercises, lie on your back with your knees bent and your hands on your stomach. Breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose, allowing your stomach to rise. Then exhale slowly through your mouth, causing your stomach to come down.
Pranayama
Pranayam is a great way to increase your lung capacity and strengthen the respiratory system. To do this technique, straighten your spine and sit in a comfortable position. Then place your hands on your knees and exhale forcefully through your nose while contracting your abdominal muscles. After this take a deep breath again. Repeat this process for 10-20 breaths.
hyperventilation
To do this exercise, breathe rapidly and deeply for 30-60 seconds and then exhale. After this, hold your breath for 15-30 seconds and then exhale slowly. Repeating this process 5-10 times will be beneficial.
