While campaigning for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has once again tried to woo Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary. Amit Shah, who is campaigning in Bulandshahr, also added to the party's Jat voter base. To woo Jayant Chaudhary, Shah quipped that Akhilesh Yadav does not even listen to his father.

RLD has tied up with Samajwadi Party for the UP elections. He said that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has persuaded Jayant Chaudhary for the alliance but, his voice will not be heard.

Referring to the tussle between Amit Shah, Samajwadi chief Akhilesh Yadav and party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, he said, "Jayant Babu does not know that if the SP forms the government, his voice will be suppressed." He who does not listen to his father and family, will not listen to you. Azam Khan will come out of jail and he will sit (next to Akhilesh Yadav).'

This was Amit Shah's second attempt to woo RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary. The Home Minister, while contacting Jat leaders on January 26, said that Jayant Choudhary had chosen the wrong house and indicated that doors were open for him in the BJP. Shah's statement came two days after Jayant Choudhary turned down the invitation, saying the BJP was trying to create communal tension and he would never join the saffron party.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Choudhary had alleged that Amit Shah was trying to isolate Jats in Uttar Pradesh. Soon after Amit Shah's invitation to open doors, Choudhary took to Twitter to reply to the home minister, saying his invitation should go to the families of 700 farmers whose homes were destroyed. Choudhary had told India Today, "The invitation was to prevent me from garnering Muslim votes on the presumption of joining the BJP after the assembly elections."
