Three days before the Corona crisis, there was news of India-China tension on border between India and China. There was a confrontation between the Indian and Chinese soldiers along the border with Sikkim. However this was resolved after local intervention. In the changed environment, the area of Ladakh, bordering China, is also under discussion. The Ladakh region of India's disputed border with China is on alert. Reports had revealed that China's PLA had set up tents near the Galvan River, an old halt of the 1962 war and started construction in the Demchok area.
Tension in the area became witness to the war of 1962
People aware of the matter told our colleague The Economic Times that it has been three weeks and the region remains tense. However, officials believe that the situation will be gradually brought under control through established communication channels. The army has said that temporary and short-term face-offs (face-to-face) occur because the Indo-China border dispute is not yet resolved.
Defense sources say that recently Indo-Chinese soldiers had come face to face in the area of Galvan River, which was witness to the 1962 Chinese invasion. After this the area came under discussion. However the army is not there. Both sides have pulled back troops from their respective areas near the disputed border.
China is engaged in construction activities near Pangong Tso Lake
The PLA of China has been patrolling in this area located in Sub Sector North for a long time. It is often patrolled here from both sides. Sources said that the current round of confrontation took place at Patrol Point-14, after which appropriate steps were taken. This place is close to Daulat Beg Oldi airfield which is the lifeline of soldiers deployed in SSN. Tension is increasing on the Ladakh border. The report stated that there was a light skirmish between soldiers from both sides near Pangong Tso Lake. According to intelligence reports, more than 1,000 heavy vehicles have been brought to Demchok for construction activities.
Increased vigil on Nepal border also
Following the input, the Nepal border is also being closely monitored. The border post is being chalked. Thousands of armed police personnel have recently been deployed following a change in the construction of a road near Lipulekh Pass. The army did not comment on the Galvan confrontation but said the reason for the border dispute with China not being resolved. Defense sources said tensions in the SSN were increasing after aggressive patrolling by the Chinese side.
India can build military airport in Demchok
Activities across the border in Demchok are being closely monitored. It has been reported that airspace can be built here. Heavy construction near the disputed Line of Actual Control (Line of Actual Control) is seen as a breach of agreement between the two sides. In this, both sides agreed to leave the border untouched. India has had a longstanding dispute with China in the Galvan River region. A post of the Indian Army formed here in July 1962 was recently surrounded by PLA soldiers.
A similar clash between the two sides was also witnessed at Naku La Pass in Sikkim on Saturday. According to sources, about a dozen soldiers from both sides were injured. In addition to the Doklam crisis in the past, soldiers were seen engaging in battle with sticks and stones near Pangong Tso Lake in 2017.
