Tension in the area became witness to the war of 1962
People aware of the matter told our colleague The Economic Times that it has been three weeks and the region remains tense. However, officials believe that the situation will be gradually brought under control through established communication channels. The army has said that temporary and short-term face-offs (face-to-face) occur because the Indo-China border dispute is not yet resolved.
Defense sources say that recently Indo-Chinese soldiers had come face to face in the area of Galvan River, which was witness to the 1962 Chinese invasion. After this the area came under discussion. However the army is not there. Both sides have pulled back troops from their respective areas near the disputed border.

India has had a longstanding dispute with China in the Galvan River region. A post of the Indian Army formed here in July 1962 was recently surrounded by PLA soldiers.
A similar clash between the two sides was also witnessed at Naku La Pass in Sikkim on Saturday. According to sources, about a dozen soldiers from both sides were injured.
