Once again, news of a large number of layoffs is coming from Amazon. Amazon can lay off about 20,000 people from its different departments. Employees of all levels from grade 1 to grade 7 will be affected by this retrenchment. Computerworld has said these things in its report. Earlier in November, it was revealed in media reports that Amazon is going to lay off 10,000 employees.

Recently, Amazon asked the managers to identify the problems in the performance of the employees. Amazon has 1.5 million employees all over the world. If 20,000 people are retrenched then it will be 1.3 percent of the total workforce. The employees who will be retrenched will be given 24 hours' notice and severance pay. This will be the fourth biggest layoff in Amazon's history.

A source told Computerworld that no specific department or location has been chosen for the layoffs. Rather, this sorting will happen in the entire verticals. During the Corona epidemic, the company had excessive hiring. The revenue of the company was continuously decreasing, due to which there has been a need for retrenchment. On November 17, Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, told the employees in a message that the company was going to lay off employees. Although he did not tell how many people would be affected by this retrenchment.

Andy Jassy said that the challenging conditions in the economy persist, due to which this year has remained difficult. He said that in the last few years we had done tremendous hiring. On November 30, at the NYT Dealbook Summit, Andy Jassy defended the layoffs, saying that it is very important for the company to reduce expenses.
