President Vladimir Putin on Thursday ordered a ceasefire in Ukraine from 6 to 7 January. However, amid a two-day ceasefire, the US and Germany have announced the delivery of several dozen Bradley combat vehicles to Ukraine because of the war. In addition, the US will also send nearly three billion dollars in military aid to Ukraine. A joint statement following a phone conversation between President Joe Biden and Chancellor Olaf Scholz informed that the US will provide Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine while Germany will provide Marder infantry fighting vehicles.
According to the news agency Reuters, the US arms package will be announced on Friday. The $2.8 billion in total aid includes approximately 50 Bradley Fighting Vehicles. Both countries have agreed to train Ukrainian troops to use them. Germany will also supply one Patriot air defense battery to Ukraine. Last February, the army of Ukraine took great advantage of this weapon.
The 50 Bradley Fighting Vehicles being sent by the US will greatly help Ukraine on the battlefield. The US Army has been using this long-range firepower vehicle since 1985. At present, the Ukrainian army is fighting the Russian army with a rocket system that can hit up to 80 kilometers. Earlier, Ukraine had demanded a large number of tanks and cannons from the US and allied countries for the war. On Russia's ceasefire announcement, President Biden has said that through this President Putin wants to give some oxygen to his soldiers.
