The US Defense Ministry, the Pentagon, in its latest national defense strategy, said on Thursday that despite the Russian attack in Ukraine, China remains a growing challenge for the US. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stressed that the US will enhance its key defense partnerships with India to enhance its capability to counter Chinese aggression in the Indo-Pacific region. According to the defense strategy, China is a growing challenge and Russia is a serious threat. This strategy is designed to deal with the threat posed by China and also takes into account the capabilities of America's allies and allies.
China's arbitrariness will be curbed
"We are investing heavily to ensure that China does not try to use force, take Taiwan for example," a senior defense official said. Another defense official said the most widespread and serious challenge to US national security is China's attempt to forcefully and aggressively alter the Indo-Pacific region and the international order following its interests and dominant priorities. At the same time, the report said that Russia's military operation in Ukraine shows that Moscow is a serious threat to the US and its allies with nuclear weapons, cyber operations, and long-range missiles.
China and Russia's closeness threatens
The report also expressed concern about the growing closeness between China and Russia. It has been said that as China and Russia develop as partners, they are creating security challenges. The US released its last national defense strategy in the year 2018 during the tenure of former President Trump. It marked a fundamental shift from the US military focused on combating extremists.
