The murder of chemist Umesh Kolhe in Amravati, Maharashtra was a big conspiracy and its purpose was to spread panic in a section of the country. NIA has said this in its FIR. The National Investigation Agency suspects that the incident may have national as well as international connections.
The Amaravati incident took place about a week before the murder of Kanhaiyalal on similar lines in Udaipur, Rajasthan. NIA is probing both the murders. NIA says that a group of people conspired to kill Chemist Kolhe. He intended to spread terror among a section of the people of the country. The attackers wanted to spread enmity among the people based on religion. The NIA believes that this was a big conspiracy.
New FIR registered
On July 2, the NIA re-registered the case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 and sections 16, 18, and 20 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for the murder of a chemist Umesh Kolhe. The FIR mentions that the City Kotwali police station in Amravati, Maharashtra received information about Kolhe's brutal murder on June 21 and registered a case against three unidentified accused on June 22 on the complaint of Sanket Umesh Kolhe, the son of the deceased. Kolhe, a resident of the Ghanshyam Nagar area of Amravati, was murdered around 10 pm when he was returning home from the shop.
According to the facts revealed in the investigation, an FIR has been registered under sections 153 (a), 153 (b), and 120 (b) of the IPC and sections 16, 18, and 20 of the UA (P) Act and the National Investigation Agency Act 2008. . On July 1, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had ordered to hand over the Kolhe murder case to the NIA.
Eight accused arrested
Mudassir Ahmed, Sharukh Pathan, Abdul Taufik, Shoaib Khan, Atib Rashid, Yusuf Khan Bahadur Khan, and Shahim Ahmed Firoz Ahmed have been arrested in connection with Kolhe's murder. All these accused were caught by the Maharashtra Police. The NIA on Wednesday conducted searches at 13 places in the case and seized various incriminating documents containing hate pamphlets.
