Qin's first visit to India after becoming foreign minister
Significantly, this is the first visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang to India after taking over from his predecessor Wang Yi in December last and also his first meeting with S Jaishankar. Ahead of the meeting, the two leaders had said on Wednesday that it values its relations with India and that the two countries share a strong bond. Tension continues between the two countries
Relations between China and India have deteriorated since the eastern Ladakh military standoff between the two countries in May 2020.
