The ongoing tension between India and China is not hidden from anyone. India has shown the mirror to China many times on global forums. Meanwhile, on Thursday, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Delhi. Foreign Minister Jaishankar has given information about this meeting. He tweeted that during the meeting, bilateral relations, especially the restoration of peace in the border areas, were discussed between the two leaders.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted "Our discussions focused on addressing current challenges to bilateral relations, especially peace in the border areas. We also talked about the G20 agenda."
Qin's first visit to India after becoming foreign minister
Significantly, this is the first visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang to India after taking over from his predecessor Wang Yi in December last and also his first meeting with S Jaishankar. Ahead of the meeting, the two leaders had said on Wednesday that it values its relations with India and that the two countries share a strong bond. A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry had said that China and India are ancient civilizations and both have more than a billion people. We are neighbors and both are emerging economies. A strong China-India relationship serves the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples.
Tension continues between the two countries
Relations between China and India have deteriorated since the eastern Ladakh military standoff between the two countries in May 2020. To resolve the deadlock, 17 rounds of high-level military commanders' talks have taken place between the two countries. India says that until there is peace in the border areas, its relations with China cannot be normal.
