Recently, UN Director General Antonio Guterres visited Pakistan and made an aerial tour of the affected areas. After this, he called the situation very bad and appealed to the world to help Pakistan. He said that the problem can be reduced by helping Pakistan.
UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Julian Harris say that $ 160 million in funding was appealed to the world to help Pakistan, out of which a total of $ 150 million has been said to be given according to the promises made by various countries. . So far, more than $38 million has been raised under this appeal. So far, about 7 countries have been asked to help Pakistan. This includes America, Canada, the UK, Japan, Denmark, Australia, Singapore, Nepal, etc. On behalf of the UN, it has been said that with this fund, the concern of health care of the people affected by the floods will be addressed.
According to Harris, more than 6 lakh people have been affected by the floods in Pakistan. First of all these people need help. At the same time, the government of Pakistan says that about 33 million people have been affected by this flood across the country. The appeal made by the UN is from September 2022 to February 2023. On behalf of the UN, the government of Pakistan has also been asked to spend the amount of help given only to the affected. It has also been said that it is very important to maintain transparency in spending this amount. The UN has appealed to the Shahbaz government to put such an institution under its supervision which can confirm that it is in the right hands.
