The Central Government has banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) for five years for being in contact with terrorist activities and found indulging in anti-national activities. On Thursday, the Kerala High Court directed PAFI to pay Rs 5.20 crore in two weeks. A division bench of Justices AK Jaishankaran Nambiar and CP Mohammed Nias directed the trial courts not to grant bail to the accused till the damages are paid. The court directed the government to make PFI state secretary A Abdul Sattar, who called for the bandh, an accused in all the cases registered in connection with the violence during the bandh.
The bench said, "The lives of citizens cannot be put at risk. The message is loud and clear. If anyone does this, there will be consequences. You can organize and protest for any reason you want. Constitution It allows, but a sudden strike cannot be done."
The court said if the damages are not paid, strict action can be initiated including attachment of their properties. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation had earlier informed the court that 58 of its buses were damaged and 20 employees were injured in the violence during the bandh.
