The radical Islamist organization Popular Front of India has been banned in India for five years due to terrorist funding and other activities. A notification regarding the ban has also been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Following the notification of the central government, the Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments issued an order declaring the PFI and its affiliates an unlawful association. The Tamil Nadu government has issued an order declaring PFI and its affiliates an illegal organization.

At the same time, Delhi Police is on high alert after the Centre's ban. Police activity has increased in different parts of Delhi. Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) of various districts have also taken to the streets to assess the situation.

It is known that PFI is a fundamentalist organization. In 2017, the NIA wrote a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs demanding a ban on this organization. The NIA investigation had come to the notice of this organization allegedly indulging in violent and terrorist activities. According to the NIA dossier, this organization was considered a threat to national security.

Let us inform you that other central agencies including NIA and ED have conducted massive raids against PFI. Several PFI leaders were detained in action at 15 centers across the country. Several leaders including PFI Chief Oma Salam, Secretary Nasruddin Elamram, Professor P Koya, and founding leader E Abdur Rahman were detained during the raids.

The Center also gave powers to the states

In another notification, the Center has empowered the state governments to take action against groups linked to PFI and seize possible places against them, and arrest their members.
