New Delhi, Feb 12 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said he was appalled after he came to know that a temple dedicated to him was built in Gujarat. He said it made him "very sad".
"Have seen the news about a temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking and against India's great traditions. Building such temples is not what our culture teaches us.
He suggested people should use their resources and time in working towards a clean India.
"Personally, it made me very sad. Would urge those doing it not to do it. If you have time and resources, please devote the same towards fulfilling our dream of a Clean India," the prime minister said.
On Wednesday, reports surfaced that supporters of Modi had built a temple dedicated to him near Rajkot in Gujarat.
The temple, with a bust of Modi in the sanctum, stands on Kothariya road and would be open to public Feb 16.
