By tweeting on Tuesday, SP President Akhilesh Yadav also said that the workers should be ready with cameras.

After voting in Varanasi, till late Monday night, all 3317 EVMs were kept assembly-wise in the strong room at Pahariya. Here the counting of votes is to be held on March 10. The EVMs going from Pahariya Mandi to UP College for training were stopped by the SP workers on the spot and created a ruckus. The driver and a worker were kept in his possession for hours and raised slogans against the police administration. The SP workers did not even spare the media in anger. The SPs also called the media good and bad about the exit polls. And also broke the camera of a TV channel. Along with this, some activists also created ruckus at four places in the city. Shortly after the incident, District Election Officer Kaushal Raj Sharma and Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh also reached the spot. The SPs raised slogans against these officers fiercely. Former SP minister Surendra Singh Patel was even made to inspect the strong room, but the people of SP were not ready to listen to anything. The SP did not allow them to come out of the market. Had to come back from the vehicle again and sit in the strong room. Seeing the commotion, a huge force has gathered here.

Apart from Varanasi, the SPs also created a ruckus in other districts. In Baghpat, RLD district president Jagpal Singh Teotia, referring to the BJP's lead in the exit polls, expressed apprehension that the election results could be changed by messing up the counting of votes. SP alliance candidate Yogesh Verma reached Hastinapur outside the strong room in Meerut and saw the arrangement through binoculars. The picture of the strong room with binoculars became increasingly viral in the internet media.
