Jammu, March 18 (IANS) The Indian Army on Wednesday organised a light and sound show depicting the trials and tribulations of the soldiers and the people while braving terrorism and aggression in Jammu and Kashmir.
Governor N.N. Vohra and Lt. Gen. K.J. Singh, GOC-in-C Western Command, were among the dignitaries who watched the show held at the Balidan Stambh in Jammu.
Param Vir Chakra recipient Subedar Major and honorary captain Bana Singh, who got the nation's highest military award for his daring exploits in the icy battlefield of Siachen, and Vir Chakra recipient Col. Virender Sahai, who was the company commander in the battle of Laleali during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, were also present.
The show depicted the trials of the security forces and the people of the state in the fight against external aggression and terrorism.
The governor appreciated the show and lit a candle in the memory of martyrs.
Vohra hoped more visitors would visit the memorial and get inspired by the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of the soldiers.
He advised educational institutions to organise trips to the Balidan Stambh to motivate the future generations and instill patriotic fervour.
