The Government of India on Thursday said that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is continuously taking active measures to protect the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Khuldabad, Maharashtra.

This information was given by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. He said that the tomb is a protected monument by the ASI and necessary steps are being taken for its security.

Steps taken to protect the tomb

Shekhawat said that the ASI and the district administration are working together to protect Aurangzeb's tomb. A 12 feet high metal sheet has been installed around the tomb.

Along with this, barbed wire (concertina wire) has been installed on the walls so that no unauthorized person can enter the tomb. Also, private security staff has been deployed and regular inspection is being done by ASI officials.

Information available on the ASI website

The Union Minister said that Aurangzeb's tomb is protected by ASI and its complete information is available on the ASI website. There is no question of removing any information on it. This monument comes under the Aurangabad circle of ASI and all necessary measures are being taken for its protection.
