The Ministry of Civil Aviation has told a parliamentary committee that in the coming two years, more than one lakh people can get employment in the aviation sector of the country.
According to a report tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday, the ministry has told a parliamentary committee that as per estimates, there are currently around 250,000 people directly employed in the aviation and aeronautical manufacturing sector.
These 2,50,000 employees include personnel employed as pilots, cabin crew, engineers, technicians, airport staff, ground handling, cargo, retail, security, administrative, and sales staff.
The ministry estimates that by the year 2024, this figure may increase to 3,50,000. The ministry has said that the ratio of workers working indirectly and directly in the civil aviation sector in Varman is 4:8. According to the ministry, 10,000 more pilots will be needed in the coming five years to see the increasing number of air passengers.
