'Ban on Roza, Namaaz, Haj and Zakat...', Arshad Madani furious at PM Modi's statement on Waqf

Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind (AM) President Maulana Arshad Madani got angry over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement in which PM Modi said that the Waqf Act has no place in the Constitution. On Sunday (November 24, 2024), he said at the 'Samvidhan Bachao and Rashtriya Ekta' conference organized in Patna that tomorrow PM Modi will also ban Roza, Namaz, Zakat, and Haj.

 

Arshad Madani expressed surprise at Prime Minister Modi's statement and said that tomorrow he can also say that Namaz, Roza, Haj, and Zakat are not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution, so they should be banned. He said, 'We did not expect such a weak statement from the Prime Minister, if he does not know anything about it, then he could have taken information about it from people who know the Constitution.'

 

Arshad Madani claimed that if this bill, which paves the way for the destruction and confiscation of Waqf properties, is introduced in Parliament, Jamiat will protest against it across the country along with Hindus, other minorities, and all secular-minded people. He said that Muslims can tolerate any loss but cannot tolerate any interference in Sharia.

 

He said, 'The Prime Minister should know that Waqf is an integral part of Islam and it is mentioned in Hadith, which are the words spoken by our Prophet.' Arshad Madani said that religious freedom has been given to all the minorities of the country in the Constitution and this (Waqf) is an important part of this religious freedom. The Jamiat chief said, 'This is our religious matter, so it is our religious duty to protect it and keep it alive.'

 

Arshad Madani urged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ally Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu to stop the Waqf Amendment Bill from being passed. He said that if this is done, it will be like stabbing Muslims in the back. This double politics cannot work now that you get our vote and after coming to power, you use this vote against us.

 

BJP does not have an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha and it needs the support of other parties including Nitish's Janata Dal (U) and Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to stay in power. Arshad Madani also condemned the statements of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Himanta Biswa Sarma was the BJP in charge of the Jharkhand assembly elections. He said, 'The Chief Minister of Assam called Muslims in Jharkhand as infiltrators. He should remember that most Muslims are of Indian origin. You can find Brahmins, Tyagi, and Rajputs among Muslims.'

 

Referring to the defeat of the BJP in Jharkhand, Arshad Madani said that those who were trying to spread hatred had to face defeat and this is the grace of God, there is no doubt about it, but we have to accept that Hindus are also seen standing with us.

 

Indirectly referring to JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, Arshad Madani said, "The ruling dispensation in the state is the crutch on which the Centre stands. The powers present in the state claim that they will not let Muslims be persecuted. If they call themselves secular, they should clarify their position on this. If they deviate, the Muslim community will have to decide whether to trust them further or not."
