IND vs PAK: 'Pakistan Army Chief and PCB Chairman should open...', Imran Khan taunts Munir-Naqvi after India's defeat

Posted on 23rd Sep 2025 09:57 am by rohit kumar

Following two consecutive defeats to India in the 2025 Asia Cup in Dubai, Pakistan's former Prime Minister and World Cup-winning captain, Imran Khan, has taken a dig at his country's army chief. The jailed Imran Khan targeted Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, saying that if Pakistan wants to win against India, both should open the batting.

Imran's taunt on Naqvi and Munir

Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, told reporters on Monday, "Imran Bhai said that the only way to win a cricket match against India is for Army Chief General Munir and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to open the innings. The umpires should be former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Pakistan's Chief Election Commissioner, Sikandar Sultan Raja, while the third umpire should be Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar."

Imran Khan targets Naqvi.

Captain Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to its first and only World Cup victory in the 1992 World Cup, has blamed PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for ruining Pakistani cricket. He accused Naqvi of incompetence and nepotism. Aleema Khan said she informed her brother about Pakistan's consecutive defeats at the hands of India, prompting Imran Khan to make this remark.

Imran Khan has been targeting Munir

72-year-old Imran Khan has long accused Army Chief General Asim Munir of stealing the mandate for his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He alleges this was done with the help of then-Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

Imran is in jail

PTI party founder Imran Khan has been in jail since August 2023 on several charges. While in jail, he continues to make statements on Pakistani politics and cricket. Following back-to-back defeats to India, both cricket and politics in Pakistan have become increasingly heated. Imran Khan's latest statement has become a topic of discussion in both the political and sports circles in Pakistan.
