Bangladesh and India's relations have been witnessing tensions in recent times. Bangladesh's interim government has alleged that India's political leadership is using issues related to Bangladesh for domestic political gain. In this regard, Bangladesh's interim government's information advisor Nahid Islam said, "If India does this, it will be detrimental to its domestic politics." He also said that anti-Bangladesh and anti-Muslim politics can undermine India's national interests and unity.
Nahid Islam is one of the student leaders who protested against Sheikh Hasina. He did not make any specific comment on the atrocities against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. However, he stressed that India should avoid discussing these issues.
Nahid underlined the importance of historical and cultural ties between India and Bangladesh and appealed to India to stop "false propaganda" against Bangladesh.
Relations with other states of Bangladesh
According to Nahid Islam's statement, Bangladesh shares deep ties with West Bengal, Tripura, and Assam. Nahid said that students from Kolkata and Delhi had supported Bangladeshi protesters during the protests against the Sheikh Hasina regime. He also claimed that Bangladesh is committed to providing equal rights and security to minorities, especially Hindus.
At the same time, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, has called for national unity to deal with the alleged propaganda by big countries. Addressing the political parties, he said that this is the time to counter the misinformation being spread in the case of rebellion against the Sheikh Hasina government.
