The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made important disclosures regarding the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders in Kerala. The NIA made important submissions before the special NIA court in Kochi on Tuesday. The NIA said that banned PFI leaders in Kerala were in touch with some leaders of the Islamic State (IS) and Al Qaeda. Along with this, the NIA has sought more time for investigation against the PFI leaders arrested after the ban.
Court extended time for charge sheet
On the demand of the NIA, the special court granted a further extension of 90 days to collect evidence and file the charge sheet. Let us tell you that recently the Ministry of Home Affairs has banned PFI and its related organizations for five years.
Many places of PFI were raided
Significantly, in September this year, raids were conducted on PFI bases in several states under the leadership of NIA. During this, more than 100 PFI workers were arrested for allegedly supporting terrorist activities in the country. Oma Salam, the chairman of the banned outfit, was also taken into custody.
