Virat tweeted and wrote, “I was not joking that I consider Ben Stokes the most competitive player. He played an inning of the highest quality, but Australia is still a very good team.

Let us tell you that Ben Stokes tried his best to win the team by wreaking havoc with the bat on the fifth day of the second innings. He played a fiery inning of 155 runs, but could not win the team. This century is the first century by an English captain at Lord's after 2009. Apart from this, he became the fifth batsman to score the highest individual score for England in the fourth innings. The most runs in the fourth innings for England is in the name of Bill Edrich, who scored 219 against South Africa in 1938/39.

If we talk about the match, then batting first, the Australian team was all out for 416 runs in the first innings. In the first innings, Steve Smith scored 110 runs, Travis Head scored 77 runs and David Warner scored 66 runs. In response, England scored only 325 runs in the first innings. For the team, Duckett scored 98 runs, Harry Brook scored a half-century, Zak Crawley scored 48 runs and Ollie Pope scored 42 runs.

 

After this, in the second innings, the Australian team made a total of 279 and thus England got a target of 371 runs.
