Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched the Bharatpol portal developed by the CBI to create better coordination between various investigative agencies of the country. On this occasion, the Union Home Minister said that this is the time to use modern services. That is why the Bharatpol portal has been developed. This will fulfill the dream of making India safe. It will help in fighting security challenges.

The Union Home Minister said that it will be easy to use international data from the Bharatpol portal. It will help in catching fugitive criminals. We will also have Interpol data. There will be a system to track criminals.

The Bharatpol portal will enable the country's investigative agencies to share real-time information. This coordination at the level of the Center, State, and Union Territories is done through the Interpol Liaisoning Officer (ILO), who is associated with the Unit Officer at the level of Superintendents of Police, Police Commissioners, and Branch Heads in their respective organizations. At present, the means of communication between CBI, ILO, and UO are letters, email, and fax. The creation of the Bharatpol portal will improve coordination between agencies as well as help in catching criminals.

The new state-of-the-art online platform will allow police forces of states and union territories and central agencies to send their requests to Interpol seeking information about fugitives hiding abroad or other matters. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is India's national central bureau, responsible for matters related to Interpol.

Through Interpol, the CBI can seek the necessary information from similar agencies of other member countries of Interpol to assist in the investigation of crime or criminals in India and can share criminal data and intelligence to assist other countries.
