On Thursday, the film Dhurandhar 2 was released in theaters, and on its very first day, it stormed into the ₹100 crore club. It is the first Indian film to achieve this feat. It has also emerged as the biggest hit of Ranveer Singh’s career. The film was directed by Aditya Dhar. Director Ram Gopal Varma is ecstatic after watching the film; at the same time, he has issued a warning to other filmmakers and actors in Bollywood.

What did Ram Gopal Varma say about Dhurandhar?

In a tweet posted on Friday, Ram Gopal Varma first took aim at filmmakers within Indian cinema. In his tweet, he wrote: " Dhurandhar 2 is a horror film for all those filmmakers who built their careers and fortunes on mediocre cinema—that kind of cinema which was filled with noise and ‘masala’ (commercial tropes), and which was forcibly shoved down our throats. That cinema will soon be seen struggling to breathe while on a ventilator."

He also took aim at renowned actors

Further in his tweet, Ram Gopal Varma lashed out at big-name actors—without explicitly naming them. He wrote: “The film Dhurandhar 2 will thoroughly terrify all those filmmakers who, even today, worship stars as if they were gods. This film by Ranveer Singh has effectively ‘killed off’ all those ‘heroes’ who never shed blood and never feel pain.” The director went so far as to label these Bollywood heroes as nothing more than circus jokers.

High praise for Aditya Dhar

Ram Gopal Varma made several other observations in his tweet. However, in his concluding remarks, he heaped lavish praise upon the Dhurandhar 2 director, Aditya Dhar. He wrote: “The film Dhurandhar 2 is not merely a movie; it is a verdict. Aditya Dhar has effectively ‘decapitated’ that brand of cinema which insulted the intelligence of the audience—the kind that prioritized flashy, ostentatious visuals over storytelling, and which turned the ‘hero’ into a deity while reducing the audience to a flock of sheep.” The box office collection of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ will now bury the mindset of all those old-school filmmakers in such a deep grave that even their ghosts won’t be able to escape it.

Ram Gopal Varma further remarked that while some filmmakers might wish to replicate the work of someone like Aditya Dhar by leveraging vast sums of money, where exactly would they find a mind like his? In doing so, Ramu heaped lavish praise upon Aditya Dhar.
