Booster Dose: Frontline workers and 60+ receiving the third dose of vaccine, where and how? Know the answer to every question

Today is an important day in the vaccination campaign of Corona in the country. The third dose (precaution dose) is being administered to healthcare workers and the elderly from today. Precaution doses are being applied to those elderly people who have a serious illness. The registration for the precession dose has started on the Kovin portal from Saturday evening. When will the precaution dose be given?

 

Precaution doses are being given across the country from today to healthcare and frontline workers and elderly people above 60 years of age suffering from a serious illness.

 

Which vaccine will be given?

 

The vaccine dose of Corona will be the same vaccine that was given as the first and second doses. The government said that those who have received both the doses of Kovishield vaccine earlier will also be given the third dose of Kovishield.

 

Need to register?

 

The Health Ministry has said that there will be no need for a new registration to take the third dose. A new feature has been added to take the third dose on the Covin portal. This new feature is for those who are eligible for the third dose of the corona vaccine. Vikas Sheel, Director and Additional Secretary, National Health Mission, said that now there is a facility of online appointment on Kovin to book precaution doses for senior citizens, frontline, and healthcare workers. People taking both doses of Corona can go to any vaccination center by appointment or directly.

 

What should be the gap in precaution dosage?

 

You are eligible if you are 60 years old and have taken both doses of the vaccine if the difference between the second dose and the day you register is more than 9 months (39 weeks).

 

Must show comorbidities certificate?

 

The Elderly will not have to show any kind of certificate for precaution dosage. However, the Health Ministry has said that people taking precautionary dosages must consult a doctor.

 

Which diseases are involved?

 

20 serious illnesses have been included for people taking Precautions. These diseases include diabetes, kidney disease or dialysis, cardiovascular disease, stem cell transplant, cancer, cirrhosis, sickle cell disease, long-term use of steroids or immunosuppressants, muscular dystrophy/ acid attack with respiratory system involvement/ needing more help. Disabled/Divyang with multiple disabilities including hearing-impaired and severe respiratory illness requiring hospitalization in the last two years.
