The PCB has imposed a fine of 1 million Pakistani Rupees on Pakistan's star pacer, Shaheen Afridi. The captain of the Lahore Qalandars team was found guilty of violating security protocols at the team hotel. This fine was levied on Shaheen Afridi by the PCB following an internal investigation into the matter.

Zimbabwe player Sikandar Raza, who plays for the Lahore Qalandars, was also involved in this incident. Shaheen and Sikandar had invited four external guests to the hotel, for which they have now faced disciplinary action.

Why was a fine of 1 million Rupees imposed on Shaheen Afridi?

This incident dates back to the time when Shaheen Afridi and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza were accused of inviting external guests to the hotel. According to reports, permission was sought to bring four external guests into the room; however, the PCB and security officials categorically rejected this request on security grounds. Despite this, Shaheen and Raza allegedly brought the guests into their room around 11:00 PM, where they remained until 1:25 AM.

Issuing a press release, the Lahore Qalandars team stated:

"With the objective of maintaining discipline and ensuring accountability, the franchise has taken proactive steps on its own initiative and imposed a fine of 1 million Pakistani Rupees (PKR) on Shaheen Shah Afridi for his involvement in the incident. The Lahore Qalandars have also formally submitted a detailed response, along with their observations on the matter, to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The franchise has commended the efforts of the security personnel and acknowledged their pivotal role in ensuring a safe environment for players, officials, and spectators." Clarifying that this incident arose from a misunderstanding rather than a deliberate violation of established procedures, the Lahore Qalandars have reiterated their complete respect for all safety protocols — Shaheen Afridi.

No Action Taken Against Raza

Shaheen Afridi was fined ₹1 million. However, no official disciplinary action was taken against Sikandar Raza. During a press conference, Sikandar Raza took full responsibility for the matter, stating, "The responsibility for this incident lies with me. Shaheen should not be held accountable for it."
