Students of class 9th and 10th of schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will now have to answer comprehension rather than rote memorization. The board has increased the number of aptitude-based questions for these classes. Now 40 percent of such questions will be asked, in which there will also be incident-based questions. Whereas in classes XI and XII, the number of merit-based questions will be 30 percent. CBSE has released the pattern for the examination for the academic session 2022-23.
CBSE has not made any changes in the internal assessment system for classes 9th and 10th and class 11th and 12th. The way internal examinations were conducted in schools earlier, will be in the same way. According to the board, the National Education Policy emphasizes the need for merit-based education. Competency-based education will prepare the students to actively face the challenges of the 21st century. In such a situation, the board has included merit-based questions in the examination system. With this, students will not need to memorize but they will have to answer from their understanding.
40 percent of the questions will have to be answered with your understanding
In 9th-10th, students will have to answer 40 percent of the questions on their understanding. It will also consist of event-based questions and MCQ questions. While 20 percent of questions will be multiple-choice questions and 40 percent short answer questions. Whereas in the last session, 30 percent of aptitude-based questions were asked in Term-1.
50% of questions will be short and long questions
In class XII, 50 percent of questions will be short and long questions. Wherein the number of merit-based questions will be 30 percent. At the same time, 20 percent of questions will be of multiple choice type. Whereas under the examination system of two sessions Term-1 and Term-2, 20% of aptitude-based questions were asked in the first term. While the Term-2 examinations are going on in which 20 percent aptitude-based questions are being asked.
It is to be known that only last month, the board had announced that from the academic session 2022-23, the board's examination will be held only once under the old system. Due to the Corona epidemic, the system for the academic session 2021-22 was divided by the board into two sessions (Term-1 and Term-2). In which examinations were conducted according to fifty-fifty percent syllabus.
