Center appeals to states- declare black fungus as an epidemic, report every case to the health ministry

New Delhi: mucormycosis or Black Fungus has become a problem in the second wave of Corona in the country. There have been cases in many states. Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry has urged the states and union territories to declare Black Fungus as an epidemic under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897. It said that under the Pandemic Diseases Act, 1897, the Center should put black fungus in the Notified Disease category. This corona is causing the death of patients.

 

 

In his letter, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Love Aggarwal said that in recent times a new challenge has come in the form of fungal infection, which is called mucormycosis, and Corona patients are under its influence in many states. It was said in the letter that information about the symptoms and confirmed cases of this disease should be given to the Ministry of Health. At the same time, guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and ICMR should be followed for its treatment.

 

 

Please tell that Telangana and Rajasthan have been declared as a notified disease under the Pandemic Diseases Act 1897. In a government notification in Telangana, it was said that all government and private health centers should follow the guidelines laid down by the Union Ministry of Health and the Indian Council of Medical Research for the investigation, diagnosis, and management of black fungus. The notification said, "All government and private health centers must report all suspicious and confirmed cases to the health department."

 

 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday that special centers will be set up in three hospitals of the Delhi government to treat black fungus or mucormycosis. He made this announcement in a meeting after deliberating with officials and experts on the growing cases of black fungus. He tweeted, "Made some important decisions in the meeting for the prevention and treatment of Black Fungus disease." Centers for the treatment of black fungus will be set up at Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Hospital, Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, and Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital. "

 

 

At the same time, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said that there are around 50 patients of black fungus in Bihar. For this, an award has also been made mainly in AIIMS Patna. Black fungus medicines have also been sent to private and government hospitals.
