Chandigarh, Feb 3 (IANS) Chandigarh and its surrounding areas along with some other parts of Punjab and Haryana have received rainfall since late Monday night, the weather officials said here Tuesday.
Most areas in the region remained cloudy or misty Tuesday morning.
While maximum temperatures in the past 24 hours (from Monday morning) hovered around 20 degrees, Karnal city in Haryana was the coldest in the region with the minimum temperature recorded at 6 degrees Celsius Tuesday. Amritsar city in Punjab recorded a low of 8 degrees Celsius.
Weather officials said that some parts of Punjab and Haryana and Chandigarh could receive more rain in the next 24 hours.
Some people in Chandigarh said the overcast conditions are a good relief from the extreme cold.
"Even though it is overcast, the weather is quite pleasant. In recent days, it was quite chilly. We had a prolonged spell of cold conditions this time," Aarti Bhasin, a software professional here, said.
