SBI: Big relief for SBI customers, bank waives SMS charges on mobile fund transfer

There is news of relief for the customers of the State Bank of India. The bank has waived SMS charges on mobile fund transfers. SBI has informed us that by using USSD services, customers can now easily transact without any additional charges.

SBI tweeted and wrote SMS charges on mobile fund transfer now waived! Customers can now easily transact without any extra charges. Just dial *99# and avail banking services free. The bank further said that customers can avail of the services at no extra cost, including sending money, requesting money, account balance, mini statement, and changing UPI PIN.

Services that can be availed through this service include: sending money, requesting money, checking account balance, receiving the mini statement, and changing UPI PIN. SBI said that users can now easily transact without any additional charges by using USSD services. Those who have feature phones will benefit the most from this decision.

USSD is a technology platform through which information can be transmitted via a GSM network to a basic phone. It is available on all mobile phones with an SMS facility. USSD Mobile Banking can be used to transfer funds, check account balances, generate bank statements, etc. It aims to allow the financial inclusion of economically weaker sections and those with fewer banking facilities. SBI's decision will benefit those consumers who own more than 65 percent of India's one billion mobile phone users with feature phones.
