Chemical attack on girl students in Iran: Hundreds were poisoned to prevent them from studying, mothers protested, pulled them by hair, arrested

Some videos of Iran are going viral on social media. In these, police are seen arresting women by pulling their hair. It is being told that these are the mothers of the girls who are currently admitted to the hospital.

 

From December 2022, news of schoolgirls falling ill was coming to the fore. It is being said that girl students are being poisoned to prevent them from studying. To do this, chemicals are being added to the school water. Hundreds of girl students are facing difficulty breathing after drinking contaminated water and they are being admitted to the hospital.

 

Action is being taken against the parents instead of the culprits

The protesting parents demand that the government take action in this matter. In December 2022, an inquiry was ordered into the girl students falling ill. But even after 3 months, no one was caught in this case. Nor was any action taken. Due to this, angry parents have started protesting. At the same time, the police force is arresting them only.

 

The health minister had confirmed poisoning

Deputy Health Minister Yunus Panahi said on February 27 – Hundreds of cases of respiratory poisoning have been reported since November 2022 in cities like Ghom, and Borujerd. He said that chemicals are being mixed in the water of the schools. Due to this, the girl students are having difficulty in breathing. These include vomiting, severe body pain, and mental problems.

According to Iran's news agency IRNA, Deputy Health Minister Yunus Panahi had said - cases of poisoning of female students in schools show that some people want to stop girls' education and close girls' schools.

 

Cases of respiratory poisoning increased after Mahsa Amini's death.

According to reports, the cases of poisoning of girl students have come to the fore after protests started on September 16 over the death of Mahsa Amini. In fact, on September 16, 22-year-old Mehsa died in police custody. She was not wearing a hijab, after which she was arrested. There are restrictions on girls in Iran and strict laws regarding wearing hijab.

 

Several school girls took to the streets to protest against Mehsa's death and the mandatory hijab. Since then, news of the poisoning of girl students started surfacing. The government and its agencies were accused of poisoning. After this allegation, the government officials said – We believe that the students have fallen ill. The reason for this is bad water. Bacteria flourished in the water and students fell ill after drinking it.

 

The protesting girl students were admitted to the psychiatric hospital

The government of Iran has even declared the protesting girl students as mentally ill. Iran's education minister had said that school and college girls who oppose hijab are not in a good mental state.

 

He said – all these girl students are suffering from mental illness. These girl students are being admitted to the psychiatric hospital. So that the anti-social behavior that is flourishing in these girl students can be rectified.
