China and Pakistan are continuously increasing their nuclear weapons stockpile. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) report, as of January this year, China has 350 nuclear weapons, Pakistan has 165 and India has 156 nuclear weapons. According to SIPRI estimates, Russia and the US have more than 90 percent of the estimated 13,080 global nuclear weapons.
India will not be bothered by the nuclear weapons of China and Pakistan. According to Indian officials, its delivery system matters more than the number of nuclear weapons. Explain that India's forces are going to get Agni-V intercontinental ballistic missiles with a range of 5,000 km, which will completely cover China and Pakistan.
China, Pakistan, and India are expanding their nuclear arsenals, a SIPRI study said on Monday. Till January last year, China had 320 nuclear weapons, Pakistan had 160 and India had 150 nuclear warheads. Only nine countries in the world, America, Russia, Britain, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea have nuclear weapons. "China continues to expand the list of its nuclear weapons, while India and Pakistan are also increasing their nuclear arsenals," the study said.
It has been more than a year since the military standoff between the armies of India and China in eastern Ladakh on May 5, 2020. During this, for the first time in 45 years, fatalities were seen from both sides. India and China have made limited progress in maintaining peace in the Pangong Lake region, while standoff remains at other points. At the same time, India and Pakistan on February 25 this year issued a joint statement declaring a ceasefire along the Line of Control after talks between the Director Generals of their military operations.
The SIPRI study also talked about the stockpile of raw materials that countries have for their nuclear weapons. India and Israel mainly produced plutonium and Pakistan mainly produced HEU (highly enriched uranium). The study noted that China, France, Russia, the UK, and the US also produced both HEU and plutonium for use in their nuclear weapons.
The governments of India and Pakistan make statements about some of their missile tests, but do not provide any information about the status or size of their (nuclear) arsenals, the statement said. The study, mentioned in the SIPRI Yearbook 2021, said that out of the world's total of 13,080 global nuclear warheads, about 2,000 are placed in a state of high operational alert. It also said that Saudi Arabia, India, Egypt, Australia, and China were the five largest importers of major arms in the world between 2016 and 2020. Saudi Arabia accounted for 11 percent and India 9.5 percent in global imports of major weapons during this period.
