Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has asked the Hindu community of the country not to consider themselves a minority. He said that all people in Bangladesh have equal rights irrespective of their religion. Referring to the Hindu community, he said that you people have the same rights as I have. Sheikh Hasina said this while participating in a virtual event organized by Dhaka's Dhakeshwari Temple. “We want people of all religions to live with equal rights. If you are a citizen of the country then your rights are equal. You have the same rights as I have.
While wishing the Hindu community on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, Sheikh Hasina said that you people should not consider themselves inferior. He said that if all the people of the country move forward with this confidence, then bad people of any religion will not be able to spoil the harmony. We have to have this faith and move forward with unity. However, he also condemned a section of Hindus. He said that some people want to show that the condition of Hindus in Bangladesh is very bad. Sheikh Hasina said, 'I want to say one thing with great sadness that whenever any incident happens in the country, some people try to spread in the country and abroad that the condition of Hindus in Bangladesh is bad and they have no one. There are no rights.'
He said that if any incident happens in the country, then the government takes immediate action on it. Sheikh Hasina said, 'The government takes action, but even after this it is propagated that Hindus have no rights here. But there is no talk about the action taken by the government. He said that it has happened many times when action was taken, Muslims were killed in police firing while protecting the temple. Similar incidents have also happened in this country. He said that there are more Durga Puja pandals in Dhaka than in West Bengal or Kolkata. Durga Puja is celebrated on a large scale here.
