Ranchi, March 24 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu said here Monday that the Congress has become untouchable in the country.
"Congress has become untouchable. Only two parties -- Muslim League and National Conference -- are with them. Parties are joining hands with the BJP. The BJP and its alliance will get more than 300 seats in the Lok sabha poll," said Naidu at a press conference here.
He was in Jharkhand for the filing of the nomination papers of Jayant Sinha, son of BJP leader Yashwant Sinha from Hazaribagh.
"There is Modi wave in the country. People are disenchanted with the Congress. This poll is for development and dynamic leadership of Modi," said Naidu. He said "Congress ruled for 50 years in the country and they are asking us as if we are ruling the country. They are raising 2002 and 1948 issues and we are living in 2014."
He also took a dig at the Federal Front and the Third Front. "There is no existence of the Third Front and it has been a tested and failed experiment. In Federal Front, there are seven prime ministerial candidates."
Asked about Jaswant Singh quitting the party, he said: "This is an unfortunate development. It was BJP which made him leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha."
Asked about turncoat politicians, he said: "Turncoat is not ideal situation."
But he justified the party decision to field two of the 14 Jharkhand candidates from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
The two JMM leaders -- Hemlal Murmu and Vidyut Baran Mahto -- are fighting on BJP tickets from Jamshedpur and Rajmahal.
