New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Wednesday accused the Congress of making the lives of Kathputli Colony residents "hell" by selling the land to a private builder at a low rate.
AAP leader Ashish Khetan, candidate from the New Delhi constituency, told the media the Congress had sold a piece of land to Raheja Developers on the pretext of rehabilitation of Kathputli colony residents.
He said the actual cost of the land, according to documents which he sought from the Delhi Development Authority, was about Rs.1,000 crore but the Congress sold it for just Rs.6 crore.
Terming it a scam, Khetan also said it was done during the stint of Ajay Maken when he was union urban development minister.
Maken, currently representing the New Delhi constituency is a candidate of the Congress.
Khetan said the residents of the colony, numbering about 3,500 families, have been asked to leave the place without being given a proper time period.
